Randal A. Burd, Jr. teaches English at Dixon High School and also teaches English 110, 200, and 210 to dual-credit high school students as an adjunct faculty member of Missouri State University. He was elected President of the Ozark Patriots Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution in 2011. Randal received his BA in English cum laude with minors in Art, Psychology, and Writing from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and his M.Ed. in English Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Missouri (MU). He is a Teacher Consultant with the National Writing Project, having participated in the Missouri Writing Project in 2005 and the Advanced Missouri Writing Project in 2007, both at MU. Inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, at Missouri S&T, he reactivated the Alpha Delta Epsilon chapter, holding the position of President from 2005-2006 while pursuing his graduate degree at the University of Missouri. Randal was Editor-in-Chief of The Missouri Miner, Missouri S&T's campus newspaper, from 2000-2002, and Editor-in-Chief of Southwinds Magazine, "Missouri S&T's Only Literary Magazine," from 1997-2001. He has received numerous awards for his poetry.
