Announcing the first ever Randal's Sanctuary Illustrators Contest and Exhibition!

Here are the rules:

1. You must be 18-years-old or older.

2. Illustrations must be your own original work, and you must retain all copyrights to it.

2. By entering this contest, you give me permission to include your entry in a book along with my poetry and illustrations of other artists. You are also giving me permission to use your submission in a joint venture with me to produce postcards, greeting cards, and other items featuring poetry and art. You will receive a percentage of profits from any sales of books, postcards, greeting cards, etc., proportional to your contribution. For example, if it is a 50-page book and you contribute 10 pages of illustrations, you receive 1/5 of the profits from this book. Illustrators featured on greeting cards and postcards will receive 1/2. In addition to receiving royalties, you will be featured in an illustrated poetry volume along with the contact information of your chosing. I will also advertise our joint ventures on my website with a link back to your website and/or other contact information of your choosing.

3. As an applicant, you will fill out the application below, at which point I will e-mail you an original poem. You must then create an illustration to go along with that poem using pen-and-ink or computer software. Image must reproduce at 300 dpi and fit or reduce to fit on a 5.5"x8" page. Images must be in black-and-white or be attractive when color is removed.

4. Once accepted, I will begin to advertise your work immediately. Depending on the response to this project, you may be offered the opportunity to do additional drawings for additional royalties as indicated above.

5. I do not anticipate heavy sales or high profit-margins. This is an opportunity for all of us to exhibit our respective talents and gain exposure. I encourage you to help me market our joint-venture products by holding book signings, etc., in your area. As a contributor, you will be allowed to purchase books and merchandise at wholesale costs. Keep in mind that wholesale cost means no profit is generated and therefore you will receive no royalties from those products bought wholesale. Should you resell the books at retail, you will be trusted to send me the profits, minus your royalties, from those sales.
